Project Roles

Assign project roles when you add a user to a project attendee list. The role you assign is for that specific project. A user can be assigned to a Project Administrator role for one project, a spectator role for another, and no access at all for the remaining projects. Project roles are assigned to users on a project-by-project basis. The permissions users receive via that role apply only to the projects where they are directly assigned that role.

A user must be assigned to system-wide role that includes eligibility permission for each permission enabled by a project role in order for the project role to be assigned to that user.

To assign project roles, a user must have access rights to one of the following permissions:

Assigning a project role requires eligibility for both the user who is assigning the role and the user who is being assigned to the role:

    1. The user who is assigning the role to another user must have grant rights to each project or survey-level permission enabled by the role they want to assign.
    2. The user who is being assigned the role must have access rights to each permission enabled by the role.

If either user is ineligible, Iasta SmartSource displays an error when the user attempts to assign the role. If the user does not have grant rights for all permissions in the role, Iasta SmartSource displays a "You do not have permission to grant this role" message. If the user who is being assigned the role does not have access rights to all permissions enabled in the role, Iasta SmartSource displays the following message: "The user's system permissions prevent the user from being granted this role."
