Exporting a Survey
Previous Topic  Next Topic

Working on survey responses in Excel can facilitate information sharing and content review. To enter responses into an Excel spreadsheet and import them into Iasta SmartSource, you must export the survey to an Excel file and enter all your responses in that exported file. See the "To edit a survey response in Excel" section later in this topic for important rules for editing Iasta SmartSource Surveys responses in Excel.

The sponsor company controls whether or not the export option is available. If they have prohibited exporting, you won't see the export link on your survey.

NOTE: Since Excel does not support attachments, you must upload any attached files to the survey directly from the web portal. For more information, refer to Attaching a File to a Survey.

Rules for Formatting Excel Files

When you open a survey in Excel, the text and format of the spreadsheet are locked. You must use the spreadsheet that Iasta SmartSource exported because some fields are protected and it provides the correct question format. Do not unlock and modify these elements of the spreadsheet or you will not be able to import the spreadsheet back into Iasta SmartSource. Follow these rules when editing survey response in Excel:

»To edit a survey response in Excel

    1. Launch Excel and open the file you exported. Each section or "page" in the survey is in a separate worksheet. Each each table question is also in its own worksheet.
    2. Complete all required (yellow) cells in the answer column, and add optional comments in the Comment (blue) cells. A table question will contain a "Sheet for Question x.x," link. Click the link to open the worksheet for that table question. Black cells are statements that require no response.

    1. Save your spreadsheet.
